For experienced experts and founder-led service businesses
Your work is valuable.
It shouldn’t be this hard to explain or sell.
You have years of experience, strong judgement and a way of working which gets results. Yet explaining what you do has become harder, not easier.
Your work has evolved. Your expertise spans more than one neat category. So when someone asks, “What exactly do you do?”, the answer often feels incomplete.

The problem
People who know your work get it. New prospects often don’t.
Perhaps…
- Your explanation changes depending on who asks.
- Your services have become a list of everything you know how to do.
- Your website describes your work accurately, but fails to make the right person think, “This is exactly what I need.”
- Your referrals come from people who already understand you, but they struggle to explain why someone else should speak with you.
- Your sales conversations require too much explanation before someone understands the value.
You keep changing the words…
Yet the underlying problem stays.
Too much of your value still lives inside your head.
Close the gap between the value you create and the value people can see.
The hidden gap
Your expertise has grown. Your business has not translated all of it yet.
Years of experience give you judgement, pattern recognition, context, methods and a way of seeing what others miss. You understand why your work produces value. Your prospective client sees only what your business communicates.
What you hear
“That sounds interesting.”
What you want to hear
“This is exactly what I need.”
Instead of asking, “How do we get more people to see my business?”, a more useful question might be…
“If ten times more people saw my business tomorrow, would ten times more of the right people understand why they should work with me?”
If the answer is no, visibility is unlikely to be your first problem. Clarity is.
What needs to become clear
Before more marketing, a few things need to become clear.
- Who gets the greatest value from your expertise?
- What problem are they paying you to solve?
- What are they buying from you?
- Why is your approach different?
- How should your expertise become an offer someone understands?
- What should happen between first discovering you and becoming a client?
When these pieces become clear, marketing has something stronger to amplify.
The shift
From expertise people respect to an offer people understand and want to buy.
When the business reflects the quality of the work…
- The right prospects recognise themselves sooner.
- You spend less time explaining what you do.
- Referrers know whom to send your way.
- Sales conversations focus more on fit and less on education.
- Your pricing has a clearer value context.
- Your website begins doing useful work before you enter the conversation.
Your expertise stays sophisticated. The path into your expertise becomes clearer.
See where your value is getting lost, and how we might solve it together.
The Expertise-to-Offer Sprint
This is the work we do together.
A focused strategic engagement for experienced experts and founder-led service businesses whose expertise has become deeper than the way their business currently presents it. We work through four areas.
01
Clarify your value
Extract what has become intuitive.
We make explicit the knowledge, judgement and patterns you have built over years, identifying what is genuinely valuable and distinctive, and where prospective clients currently miss it.
Know where your strongest value sits.
02
Define what people are buying
Turn expertise into a clear offer.
We clarify your best-fit client, the problem worth solving, your positioning and differentiation, your offer, and the outcome someone is actually buying.
Know what to sell, and to whom.
03
Build the language around it
Language you can reuse everywhere.
We develop clear language for your core proposition, offer, website, sales conversations, referral conversations, and the question, “What do you do?”
Stop reinventing how you explain your work.
04
Create the path to a client
A journey, not a brochure.
We turn the strategy into a client-facing journey, including how someone first encounters your work, what builds trust, and a conversion-focused landing page that brings it together.
Give people a clear way to become a client.
You leave with more than a website. You leave with a clearer business foundation for explaining, marketing, referring and selling your expertise.
Recent work
Nature’s Intelligence Kinesiology
Li-Anne had more than 20 years of experience and a deeply individualised body of work. The problem was not her expertise. It was helping someone outside her field understand the value of her work without reducing it to generic marketing language.
Before thinking about the website, we worked through what she really helps people with, where the deeper value sits, who is most likely to value her approach, and what makes her work distinct.
The person behind the work
I know this problem from the inside.
I started by selling my own expertise, then grew that work into a human-centred design agency with teams in Singapore and China. Across more than 25 years in human-centred design, UX, product strategy, innovation and digital transformation, much of my work has involved the same challenge:
Understand people.
Make sense of complexity.
Identify where value sits.
Turn the thinking into something people understand and act on.
Today, I apply that thinking to expert-led businesses. I am less interested in making your work sound impressive.
I am interested in making its value easier for the right person to recognise, understand and buy.
Who this is for
You do not need to have it all figured out.
This work is suited to you if you already have meaningful expertise and client experience, and the people who know your work understand its value, but new prospects need more explanation.
01
Your work no longer fits neatly inside your original professional label, and your offer feels broad or difficult to articulate.
02
Your website feels accurate, but fails to represent the calibre of your work, and you rely heavily on word-of-mouth.
03
You want stronger positioning before putting more effort, and more money, into marketing.
This is less suited to you if
- You are still deciding what work you want to do, or do not yet have meaningful experience to draw from.
- You mainly want a prettier website, or copy without examining the offer underneath it.
- You want aggressive marketing or exaggerated promises.
Three paid engagements. Worked directly with Debbie, end to end.
The next step
Your work might not need to change. The way people understand and buy it might.
If you’ve spent years getting better at your craft but feel your business still doesn’t communicate the value of what you do, let’s look at where the gap is. You do not need to diagnose the problem before speaking with me, and that’s part of what we’ll work out together.
There is no pressure to continue after the conversation, and no sales presentation to sit through. You leave with my perspective on where I see the problem and what deserves attention next.
